What it is:
Epithalon (also referenced as Epitalon) is a synthetic tetrapeptide with the sequence Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, consisting of four amino acids — alanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, and glycine. It was originally developed through research at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology under the direction of Professor Vladimir Khavinson as part of a multi-decade program examining peptide bioregulators derived from the pineal gland. Its structural basis is derived from epithalamin, a natural polypeptide extract of the pineal gland studied in the same research program. It is used as a research tool in telomere biology, pineal gland peptide pharmacology research, and aging biology studies with a research literature spanning several decades primarily in Russian and Eastern European scientific institutions.
